Press-release – (6pm 14/09/2022).

Chairman of Clare GAA Kieran Keating was pleased to announce today that Clooney native Deirdre Murphy has been appointed as the Head of Operations for Clare GAA.

"Deirdre comes to the role from her current position in Project Management in University of Limerick's IT Division. She has held a number of management positons in UL over the past decade, including roles as UL GAA Development Officer and as Support Co-Ordinator for intake/first-year students. Previously she served for six years as the Development Coordinator (Munster) for the Camogie Association.

Deirdre also comes to the role with a genuine grá for Gaelic Games and a track record of achieving success on the field of play with club, college and county as well as on the side-lines at all levels. She has also proven herself as an able administrator and manager, with excellent communications, commercial and managerial skillsets, which I have no doubt will be a great asset to Clare GAA. She has proven her value to organisations such as our hurling and camogie supporters club, Club Clare, as a volunteer, and the UL GAA Club as an employee.

Based on her experience to date, and her enthusiasm for the position which saw her emerge as the outstanding candidate from our selection process, our Management Committee are confident that Deirdre will effectively and efficiently manage the combination of employee and volunteer roles within Clare GAA and will be a key member of our team as we look forward with optimism to the years ahead."
